reverse engineering

From piece to project

Through reverse engineering activities, FMB creates detailed reconstructions of existing objects. This process occurs by automatically scanning the piece using our ATOS CORE scanner, useful to obtain an accurate measurement of very complex geometries, which is subsequently processed with CAD software.

With this technology, our team of designers is able not only to obtain the CAD file of pieces, details and components, but also to update and modify it with extreme simplicity, to provide concrete answers to all customer needs.

What is it for?

The process of reverse engineering is extremely useful in the field of mould design. Through this technology we can acquire information that allows us to develop new moulds from a physical object, or acquire the design of an existing mould in order to repair, modify or update it. The fast and accurate scanning allows us to obtain a polygonal mesh in STL format even for complex or large products, and then produce the reference CAD file. Reverse engineering is useful for various applications, including the creation of components for which the original drawings no longer exist, or the implementation of existing products through a quick and detailed analysis of strengths and weaknesses.
Reverse engineering is applicable to a wide variety of sectors:

Sportsystem
Automotive

Motocycle

Furniture

Ho.re.ca

Agriculture

Medical

Home appliance

Industrial cleaning

Railway

Riding

ATOS scan

The ATOS scanner performs complex non-contact measurements using structured blue light. This makes the measurement process extremely precise and fast: this is made possible by advanced technology, which simplifies the task. Optimising this step enables us to perform reliable data evaluations and speed up the subsequent steps. Moreover, thanks to the instrument’s manoeuvrability, the scanning task can also be performed at the customer’s place if the part is bulky and cannot be moved.
